GAINING CLARITY: Over the next few days, we continue to feel the effects of the stressful Mars-Uranus square and the longer-term Jupiter-Saturn square (both exact on June 15), and thus may observe more manifestations of their challenging energies. Before long, however, the tension of these two aspects will gradually ease, leaving us with a greater sense of freedom in our choices.
Even though all squares represent friction, they also have positive potentials. The rebellious and impulsive Mars-Uranus square is seeking to liberate us from old ego-based reactivity and patterns of resistance. The conflictive Jupiter-Saturn square is providing a reality check, helping us gain clarity on what we believe in, what we are willing to take a stand for, and what actions best represent us.
A CHANGE OF SEASONS: The Sun enters Cancer this Friday, June 20, at 7:42 p.m. PDT. This ingress marks the Solstice, when the Sun is at its northernmost point in the sky and appears to stand still before starting its annual journey southward.
Although those in the Northern Hemisphere will step into summer this week and those in the Southern Hemisphere will observe their first day of winter, the Solstice calls to each of us in similar fashion. It reminds us to align with the cycles of Nature, to honor wherever we are on our spiritual journey, and to celebrate our source of both inner and outer light.
A chart drawn for the "birth time" of the Solstice gives us clues as to our experience of the next three months. The June 2025 Solstice chart is a powerful one, with the Sun conjunct Jupiter and sextile Mars, but also square Saturn and Neptune. Optimism, risk-taking, and enthusiasm are supported by the Jupiter and Mars aspects; at the same time, the Saturn and Neptune squares keep us from moving too far too fast, or too unconsciously. These squares remind us to always remain aware of the significance of the times we are moving through—both physically and spiritually, both individually and collectively.
ASPECTS THIS WEEK (June 16 to 22, 2025):
Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
Mercury semisquare Uranus, Mercury semisquare Mars: Nervous energy is high and it can be hard to focus our minds. People may be irritable, impatient, and argumentative.
Sun sextile Eris: Conversations are forthright and people courageously express their opinions.
Tuesday
Sun sextile Chiron, Sun semisquare Venus: Some may be extra sensitive today and be easily irritated. Open-hearted listening can help ease the tension.
Mars enters Virgo: Mars travels through exacting Virgo from June 17 to August 6 this year. During these weeks, there is a strong desire to see practical results for our efforts. It is a good time to learn a skill, to perfect a craft, or to do work that requires attention to details. However, we may also be more critical and demanding of perfection, in both ourselves and others.
Wednesday
Jupiter square Neptune: A desire to feel safe can lead us to over-idealize a situation. Unrealistic expectations can ultimately lead to disappointment. If we pause our outward search for peace and go within to find our true "home," spiritual insights are possible.Thursday
Mars square Sedna, Mars quincunx Saturn: We may feel frustrated, indecisive, or experience delays with these aspects.
Friday
Sun enters Cancer (Solstice): The Sun enters the sign of the Crab at 7:42 p.m. PDT today (0242 UT on June 21). While the Sun is in Cancer, until July 22, themes of home, family, and security are highlighted. People may be more empathic and nurturing, but also more sensitive and moody.
Mars quincunx Neptune: We may experience some confusion about our best course of action, or can have trouble knowing what we truly need and want.
Saturday
Venus semisquare Saturn: There could be minor challenges in relationships or financial matters with this aspect. Some may experience a sense of loneliness, or feel that a loved one is emotionally distant.
Sunday
Mars sextile Jupiter, Mars quincunx Pluto: We are energized and eager to act but could also be temporarily blocked by circumstances that seem outside of our control.
Sun square Saturn: Restrictions, delays, or obligations could feel heavy today. Find some time for healthy, self-nurturing care, especially if feeling over-burdened by responsibilities.
Venus semisquare Neptune: Relationship or financial concerns could be a source of confusion. It is important not to idealize a person or an investment.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (June 16 to 22):
You are working with quite a range of influences this year. At times, you are likely to feel very optimistic and hopeful about the future; at other times, responsibilities, delays, or confusion could threaten to deflate your balloon. Remember that reality checks and pauses are often used by the universe to ensure proper timing for best success. Your time of "waiting" can be used to great benefit for focusing on self-care and healing. (Solar Return Sun semisquare Venus, sextile Mars, conjunct Jupiter, square Saturn, square Neptune, sextile Chiron)
